For years customers have been bugging me to learn how to Tattoo.I just could not find the time to go to school or do an apprenticeship.
Then one day not to long ago my wife asked me "why do you need to go to school with so much information these days on the internet. You never went to school for auto body or car paint yet you have owned 3 award winning collision/custom shops. You never went to school to learn film or video editing yet you invented/patent the Filmbox and produced, directed and edited dozens of infomercials. You never went to school for Art or Airbrush yet you work has been in magazines, on TV and has won thousands of awards.
Ok so she did have a point so I started research and purchased all the very best equipment and products. Every night I come home from work to learn and read more about Tattoo. As you can see to the right I have actually tried a few tattoos. Starting out small and easy to build confidence and learn. Within a year I would like to be doing portraits. One step at a time for now as I gradually become a better and more confident Tattooist. I am planning to do at least two tattoos a week until I feel I am good enough to charge for my tattoos. That is right! my tattoos are FREE! I am not going to charge until I am worthy of calling myself a Tattoo Artist. Even if I dont make many mistakes there is still that chance. I also believe you should not charge anyone unless you are able to do quality professional work. I do have a consent form to be signed and ask that you come alone for your tattoo appointment. I am still nervous while tattooing and dont need any added distractions. I need to focus. Once it is second nature to me you are welcome to bring friends. However by then I may be charging. Needless to say for about my first year all tattoos will be FREE of charge. I am a stickler for safety so I dont take any risks with re-using needles etc. I use brand new needles, and tips and tubes for every tattoo. I expect some Artistic mistakes. Just no health related mistake so I expect all customers to also follow my aftercare instructions. As this is just as important for quality tattoo.
